Lambertville Local: April, 2025
Yes, it’s April. Summer is coming, and things are changing.
No matter how many times you've gone around the sun, the blooming and budding of spring is always invigorating—hope you’re having a good one.
Below are several things you might want to know about Lambertville, NJ.
Get Over It
The renovation of the Lambertville-New Hope Bridge bridge is complete.
It’s got a wider walkway, a repaired foundation, fresh paint, and the whole thing has been equipped with fancy new lighting. It’s one sexy bridge!
There’s some contraversy about the colored LED lights, which change to honor or celebrate (similar to the Empire State Building). Some people like them while others feel they are gaudy and signify the impending Disneyfication of the area.
Many small lights have been added to highlight the recessed areas of the bridge support beams, which are painted a lighter accent color on the inside.

There are also tiny guide lights along the foot path—perfect for attracting bugs into the many webs that cover the bridge each summer. Now you’ll be able to see the spiders and know when to avoid leaning on the railings.
Gone is the state line that used to be drawn across the surface of the walkway (the paint wouldn’t stick on the new panels). Instead, they installed a sign and a silver railing post (the rest are brown) so you can’t miss the crossing point.
Countdown to Comfort Food
A new burger place is coming to town. The aptly named Bridge Street Burgers will bring burgers, cheesesteaks, and wings to the former Full Moon location.

Currently it’s like the Wanka Factory: nobody goes in and nobody comes out.
A Match Made in Oven
Nomad Pizza is totally rennovating the insde of the space that used to house Local Greek on the canal path. On the back patio they have a bunch of what looks like tables and chairs covered by a tarp, and the interior is being gutted.

Is it possible to have too many pizza places in town? (The answer is no.)
It Never Gets Old
Lambertville is known as the Antiques Capital of New Jersey. With Darberry’s Antiques coming to Lambert Lane, we feel like we’re still earning that moniker.

The sign in the window makes it look like it’s going to be an interesting place, and possibly filled with different vendors selling cool old stuff.
A Better Fit
Morgan Grabarz New York/New Hope is moving next door, into the space formerly occupied by Dupree Gallery. The arrows in the window say April 15th.

Flipping Out
In real estate news, the property located at 36 Delevan Street was sold at auction for $630,000 in a Hunderton County sheriff sale on April 2, 2025.

It’s too early to know, but it is possible that the green garages on George Street could be subdivided and turned into town homes. Hopefully they’d leave the house, but there’s currently nothing stopping developers from tearing it down.
Sip Happens
Invertase Brewing Company is opening a beer tasting room on Lambert Lane. It’s not a brewery. It’s a tasting room, which means they do not serve food.
Once open, you’ll be able to bring your own eats, your family, and your dog.

By the looks of their floor, they still have a way to go before they open to the public, but they are hop-timistic that they will be serving customers this spring.
CBD in the CBD
Baked by the River, a dispensary located in the Central Business District, will benefit from a new ordinance that allows them to expand their hours.

Eggcellent
The Speckled Egg Cafe will replace the Peace Pie ice cream shop (which arguably was also a place to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner).

The Speckled Egg’s owners ran a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund this move, so you know people are getting hangry as they wait for the opening.
Hammered and Screwed
The former Finkle’s hardware and lighting stores are for rent. The rumors are true: the new owners want to build a hotel, wedding venue, and parking garage on the former Finkle’s properties (more on that soon), but those plans have to go through layers of design, approval, zoning, permitting, and construction.

Until then, it looks like the new owners are renting the commercial spaces. Anyone want to set up a temporary business? Hardware store? Anyone?
